Bridal Style | Carmencita & Augustine
OF WHONDER’s first bride is none other than our very own founder, Carmencita Whonder. An unlikely fairytale princess, she nonetheless married her prince, Augustine, during an effortlessly elegant 3-day celebration against the perfect seaside backdrop: Trident Castle on her family’s beloved island of Jamaica.
The bride wore two custom OF WHONDER pieces for the festivities, and the groom wore one as well. For the welcome party at the adjoining Trident Hotel’s private beach, the couple chose matching white caftans, embroidered with African lace in honor of his Liberian heritage. For the wedding day, the bride donned a full-length ivory silk charmeuse column with a meticulously hand-beaded metallic Parisian ivory and gold floral lace overlay. Her sleekly structured silhouette evoked a modern interpretation of timeless, old world design. The creation worked perfectly in concert with her groom’s choice, a midnight-blue Tom Ford tuxedo inspired by James Bond. The storybook weekend was highlighted by their signature black-tie wedding, which perfectly matched the couple’s contemporary yet vintage sensibilities and down to earth personalities. Their spirited reception had a healthy dose of Jamaican charm: steel drums, rum cake, jerk spiced delicacies, and a surprise concert by internationally known reggae singer Freddie McGregor.
Immerse yourself in their wedding short film, exquisitely shot by cinematographer Michael Atwood.
